About LeonType

LeonType is a free platform to learn touch typing: typing with all ten fingers without looking at the keyboard. It offers courses in English and Spanish, a typing speed test and tools for teachers to track their students' progress.

Who makes it?

LeonType is a product of TellezTech, a small company from Bolivia that builds digital tools for education. It started in the classroom: seeing many students type with two fingers while looking at the keys, we wanted to offer a clear, fun and free course, available in both English and Spanish.

What we offer

Step-by-step courses. Three courses per language, one for elementary school, one for middle and high school and one for adults, with hundreds of lessons each: from the home row to every letter, capitals, punctuation, numbers, full readings and speed levels (final goal of 35 words per minute for elementary and 75 for middle and high school and adults).

An on-screen keyboard and guide hands that show which key to press and which finger to use, for US, Latin American and Spanish keyboards.

A typing speed test that measures words per minute and accuracy, useful for practice or to prepare for a job application.

Tools for teachers: create classes, register students without an email address and print their login cards.

A pet that grows as the student progresses, to keep younger learners motivated.

How it is funded

LeonType is free. To cover its costs it shows ads, always non-personalized because many of its users are children. In the future we will offer an optional membership for schools and families who prefer to use it without ads.
